Day Camps
Q. What does my camper need to bring
to camp?
A. We find it best if each camper brings a sports
bag to carry their equipment. The equipment should include a soccer
ball, shin guards, water bottle, soccer socks and soccer shoes.
It is also recommended to bring either running shoes or sandals
to allow the feet to rest and breathe after training.
Q. What if my child leaves something
at camp?
A. We will keep a lost & found, so it is
very important to label your child’s equipment (ball, water
bottle, clothing, shin guards etc…)
Q. What time do I drop my child off
and pick them up?
A. Drop off is 9:00 AM and pick-up is 11:30 AM
for half day camp and 3:30 PM for full day camp.
Q. How do I get to camp?
A. Please see the directions
link on the camp web site.
Resident Camps
Q. My child has never attended camp. How do I register?
A. You may register

link and follow the online instructions. You can also pay
for the camp with credit cards. If you wish to pay by check, please
fill out the registration form on the camp website.
Q. Is camp Co-ed?
A. The goalkeeper camps and the recreational
day camps are co-ed. The Elite High School Camp and the Advanced
Camp are for boys only.
Q. What is a typical daily schedule?
A. Schedule is posted under the specific camp
session.
Q. What other activities are there
at camp?
A. Campers will have access to Florida Southern
College’s pool in the afternoon to cool off and relax between
sessions. Also, we will watch World Cup 2006 matches both live
and taped during down time.
Q. Will there be an athletic training
at camp? And, who supervises the campers while not on the field?
A. Stacey Russo, ATC (Certified Athletic Training)
is a member of the camp staff and will attend all on-field activities
to provide first aid and emergency care. Stacey will be in charge
of all health and safety issues (lightning in the area, extreme
heat, and hydration to name just a few). Also, each floor of the
dorm will be supervised by staff coaches and counselors. CAMPERS
WILL BE SUPERVIED AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN THE DINING HALL, WALKING
TO AND FROM THE FIELD AND IN THE DORMS.
Q. Do I have to fill out health forms
and show proof of Insurance?
A. Yes, the health form is available
online. Please be sure to complete the form and BRING IT WITH
YOU TO CAMP! Do not send the health form in the mail. On the health
form, you will have to show proof of medical insurance.
Q. How will I know my child is registered
for camp?
A. Online registration will generate an e-mail
receipt and you will be provided a registration number, which
will allow you to review your registration status.
Q. What if my child leaves camp early?
A. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows
or for those who leave camp early for any reason.
Q. What kind of coaching will my
child receive at camp?
A. All of our staff coaches
are nationally licensed (United States Soccer Federation, National
Soccer Coaches Association of America, United States Youth Soccer,
and the Football Association, England) and are experienced with
working and coaching with youth players. The Staff Coaches will
challenge players to improve technically, and create tactical
situations that players must solve. College players will assist
(not lead) coaching sessions and will be used to demonstrate technical
skills.
Q. What is the Coach to player ratio and how many campers
attend your camp per week?
A. The camper to staff coach ratio is 13:1 on
average, give or take the size of training group/team. Overall,
camper to staff ratio (staff includes Staff Coaches, Counselors,
and Camp Director) is 10:1 on average. We cap attendance at around
80-85 campers per week long session. This is done to insure quality
coaching and attention, and also to get the most out of our excellent
playing facilities.
Q: My child has a conflict during
the week of camp (swim meet, baseball practice, etc.) can she/he
be temporarily excused from camp?
A: Yes. We know how busy kids and families are
these days and we will accommodate your schedule as best we can.
Please note however that any camper who is checking out of camp
must have his/her parents’ sign a permission slip and notify
the camp Director when leaving and returning.
